Miley Cyrus has a grounding hobby that has aided her in tough times.

In an interview published Monday (September 22), the Something Beautiful singer sat down with Pamela Anderson for CR Fashion Book's new issue where she opened up about how gardening has been a healing process in her sober lifestyle, per People. She explained how because so much of her life is in the public eye, gardening and getting in touch with nature has been "very personal."

"Gardening is something you do for yourself. When we've shared so much of ourselves, having those little precious times with something simple — like putting a seed in the ground and nurturing it — it becomes a very personal process," she said, adding that it has been a grounding force in her sobriety journey. "Having that has been the medicine that's kept me grounded in my sober lifestyle. It's part of a practice, the way yoga might be: getting out into nature, doing something with my hands, and having a creative outlet that isn't about fame or success."

The Endless Summer Vacation musician gave some credit for her love of gardening to her mother, Tish Cyrus, who filled their family home with flowers when she was younger.

"My dad [Billy Ray Cyrus] always said our house looked like an old folks' home, because she'd have flowers in every single room — that was very '90s, with all the potpourri," she said. "My mom always loved flowers; she always had them around the house. But it was simple gardening."

Cyrus has been vocal about her sobriety journey and prioritizing her health in the past, including the connection it has to no longer having the "desire" to tour anymore.
